I first created and did this workout in SCM back in August of 2009. The intervals were faster back then, but I do like to think I can (someday soon) get back to the intervals, though achieving those results at my advancing age might be a bit of a challenge.
I have attempted it a number of times over the last 15 years, more often than not coming up short. It’s a physically and mentally hard workout to do solo.
This morning was my first attempt to do this EVER in LCM. Going in, I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to complete it, but I got through the first three rounds and was not unhappy with my performance.
On the second round, I aimed to average 1:20/100M and was 1:19, 2:41, 3:58, 5:21 and 6:42, so close enough.
On the third round fast efforts, I had a strong 500 (6:23), but slowed down (not intentionally 😏) on the 300 (3:58) and the 100 was far from fast (1:16).
With an extra 100 before starting round 1 and an 8 x 50 cool down set, I got to 5,200 meters at the always awesome London Aquatic Centre.
