I really love the concept of test sets, sets that one does exactly the same way over & over again to track progress. I have a stable of them, some used more frequently than others. The Grant Hackett 200 Race Pace test set is one of my favorites and I've used it over the years as a progress indicator and good predictor of my 200 race time, across all strokes and, like today, for the 200 IM.
I last did this just two weeks ago. While I generally like to space these about four weeks apart, I'm racing a 200 IM on Feb 15th at the Hemel Hempstead 1st Open Masters Meet and wanted to check in. After a brief and lazy workout yesterday, I thought I'd feel more chipper, but didn't expect this most excellent performance, a step change improvement from the 2:31.8 to 2:38.0 performance on January 24th ...

... everything just felt "on" today. Let's hope I can find that feeling in eight days!
